I pinned this adorable car wallet on Pinterest a little while ago. Before Easter, needing something extra for my 3 year old’s basket, I took a closer look at the wallets the Etsy seller makes and thought I could whip one up myself.
Amazingly, my prototype turned out really well, and I didn’t have to mess around to make another.
My little guy discovered what I was up to, however, so it never did make it into his Easter basket. He loves it, and it has gone pretty much everywhere with us ever since.
I would post instructions, but since I basically copied another person’s brilliant idea, you’ll have to sort it out on your own, or patron her cute shop.
p.s. My camera made it! A whole week late, but it finally arrived in a battered box looking as though it got kicked around on the floor and possibly run over. I can’t even tell you how relieved and happy I am.
I love it! I totally want to try that when our renovations are done and I have my sewing machine back.

Oh I am SO SO SO sad you won’t be sharing a tutorial! But I understand, and that is super cool of you, really.
What I don’t understand is HOW you can just LOOk at something online (without! even! holding! it! in! your! hands!) and MAKE it.
My grandma can do it with dresses and coats and things. Amazing. My mom handed her a photo of a wedding dress from a magazine and she made it for her.
Nice!! I’ve wanted to make one of those but my 6 year old is not into cars much anymore.. Maybe my daughter.. Have you seen the pin where they use an Ikea magnetic knife strip to hold cars?
These are the kind of posts that make me depressed I cannot sew or do much domestic creating of any sort. Unless you count cooking. ;) You are a genius.
My 2 year old is currently OBSESSED with cars. Especially the little matchbox ones…he lines them up and drives them around for hours. He would love that car wallet so much. I would also love it so the cars jumbling around in my purse would cease. Guess I’ll stroll over to that site and see how much one of them costs. Sigh.
